BREWERS BRING IN ESCOBAR

The Milwaukee Brewers acquired infielder Eduardo Escobar from the Arizona Diamondbacks for infielder Alberto Ciprian and outfielder Cooper Hummel.

What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers are currently leading their division, so it makes sense to add pieces before this year's trade deadline. Escobar, 32, will probably play every day at the hot corner for Milwaukee (after splitting time this season between third and second base for 'Zona).

What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
The Diamondbacks are struggling this season, to put it mildly. So it makes sense to ship off the veterans on the roster. Ciprian is only 18 years old, so he is the key to this trade for Arizona. Hummel is going to turn 27 in November, so he is more of a throw-in here.

Fantasy impact
Escobar was enjoying a very strong 2021 campaign with the Diamondbacks, so he should continue to play well now that he is with a contender. He is unlikely to be available in most leagues, but he is a good trade target in some formats.
