MARTE MOVED TO OAKLAND
The Oakland Athletics acquired outfielder Starling Marte and cash from the Miami Marlins for pitcher Jesus Luzardo.
What does it give the Oakland Athletics
In Marte, the A's land a quality outfielder who should greatly improve the team's offense. He is a natural center-fielder, so either he or Ramon Laureano will have to slide over to an outfield corner to play together.
What does it give the Miami Marlins
The Marlins also sent cash to Oakland to cover most of Marte's remaining salary, but this deal should be worth it for the Marlins. Luzardo is a quality pitching prospect who should become a staple in Miami.
Fantasy impact
Marte may not do well right out of the gate as he adjusts to the American League down the stretch. However, he is still plenty valuable. Luzardo's stock should rise now that he has moved to Miami. Expect him to be a part of the Marlins' rotation in 2022.
