RICH HILL HEADS TO THE METS

The New York Mets acquired pitcher Rich Hill from the Tampa Bay Rays for pitcher Tommy Hunter and catcher Matt Dyer.

What does it give the New York Mets
The Mets are very depleted in the starting rotation right now, which explains why they added Hill here. The 41-year-old lefty has actually pitched very well for the Rays this season, so this is a good move by New York...albeit a short-term one.

What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays just added the veteran bat of Nelson Cruz, but now dispatch another vet to the Mets here. Hunter is injured and is not expected back, so he was merely added in this deal for the Mets to shed salary. Dyer is a decent catching prospect for Tampa Bay.

Fantasy impact
Hill may have trouble adjusting back to the National League after his successful stint in Tampa Bay. Buyer beware. Neither Hunter nor Dyer has any fantasy value at this time.
