STEPHEN VOGT SENT TO ATLANTA
The Atlanta Braves acquired catcher Stephen Vogt from the Arizona Diamondbacks for first baseman Mason Berne.
What does it give the Atlanta Braves
The Braves may use the veteran platoon of Vogt and Jason Lucroy behind the plate until regular catcher Travis d'Arnaud returns from the Injured List. Vogt bats left, so he may see a fair bit of playing time down the stretch.
What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
The Diamondbacks are going nowhere, so it is no surprise that they shipped out a 36-year-old backup catcher like Vogt at this time. Berne is a 25-year-old first baseman with very little in the way of long-range upside.
Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact here, as Vogt's best offensive days are behind him. As for Berne, he is a marginal prospect, at best.
