BUCS DEAL FOR DUANE UNDERWOOD JR.
The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired pitcher Duane Underwood Jr. from the Chicago Cubs for infielder Shendrik Apostel.
What does it give the Pittsburgh Pirates
In Underwood Jr., the Pirates land a 26-year-old right-hander with some untapped upside. He will likely compete for a job in Pittsburgh's bullpen this season, but he also has a history of starting in the minor leagues. So, he gives them options going forward.
What does it give the Chicago Cubs
The Cubs recently designated Underwood Jr. for assignment, so they did well to land a prospect in return. Apostel is a mammoth power hitter with plenty of potential, although he is extremely raw. This is a solid deal for the Cubbies.
For now, there is no fantasy impact here. However, both Underwood Jr. and Apostel should be on the keeper radar. Underwood Jr. has a chance to become an important pitcher for the rebuilding Bucs, while Apostel has monster power potential.
