REDS ADD ART WARREN
The Cincinnati Reds acquired pitcher Art Warren from the Texas Rangers for cash considerations.
What does it give the Cincinnati Reds
In Warren, the Reds land a reliever who turns 28 this year. The Ohio native will get the opportunity to pitch close to home for the Reds, assuming he makes the club out of spring training. Warren has some untapped upside as a late-blooming bullpen prospect.
What does it give the Texas Rangers
The Rangers had previously designated Warren for assignment in order to sign Japanese starter Kohei Arihara, so this trade comes as no surprise. The fact that Texas was actually able to get cash back for Warren's services should be considered a bonus at this point.
Keep an eye on Warren during 2021, as he has a chance to work his way into an important bullpen role with Cincinnati. However, he must first crack the active roster. Therefore, he is not worth drafting just yet.
