TEXAS TRADES HEINEMAN TO THE REDS

The Cincinnati Reds acquired outfielder Scott Heineman from the Texas Rangers for infielder Jose Acosta.

What does it give the Cincinnati Reds
In Heineman, the Reds add a versatile outfielder/infielder who can play multiple positions. The 28-year-old right-handed batter is a decent bet to make Cincinnati's active roster after spring training this season. He has limited upside but is a useful player to have on the bench at the big-league level.

What does it give the Texas Rangers
The Rangers had designated Heineman for assignment recently, so they did well to get back a future asset in return. Acosta is a switch-hitting second baseman who will only turn 21 next season, so there is some upside to his game. That said, he is still several years away from reaching the bigs.

Fantasy impact
Neither Heineman nor Acosta should be drafted in virtually all league formats this year. There are more viable options, both in terms of long-range keepers and short-term options for 2021.
