ANGELS ADD SHORTSTOP IGLESIAS

The Los Angeles Angels acquired shortstop Jose Iglesias from the Baltimore Orioles for pitchers Jean Pinto and Garrett Stallings.

What does it give the Los Angeles Angels
In Iglesias, the Angels get a solid shortstop with plenty of big-league experience. He broke into the bigs as a great defender but has become a good hitter over time. The 30-year-old Cuban should take over as the starting shortstop in LA from Andrelton Simmons, a free agent.

What does it give the Baltimore Orioles
Pinto is a 19-year-old right-hander from Venezuela, while Stallings is a 23-year-old right-hander who was drafted in 2019. Both are long-range prospects for an Orioles team that will continue the rebuilding plan for at least another season or two. Iglesias did not fit that plan.

Fantasy impact
Iglesias is a solid shortstop from a fantasy perspective. He is not elite but can help fantasy leaguers win, so do not forget about him on draft day this season. Both Pinto and Stallings are now on the keeper radar, but they do not have to be drafted yet. Keep an eye on them.
