Duffey (back) has made two appearances out of Triple-A Omaha's bullpen so far this season, striking out four batters over three innings while allowing one earned run on one hit and two walks.
Duffey signed a minor-league contract Thursday with the Royals.
Drops down in his delivery to the plate, so he can produce plenty of deception when on the mound. His fastball is pretty good and he also displays a quality breaking ball. Pitches with a bulldog mentality. Lacks both command and control, and his delivery isn't easy to repeat. The result is often too many free passes. Also, he needs to do a better job of controlling his emotions when on the bump.
Long Range Potential: Big, feisty and deceptive right-hander with a little upside.
