Sheffield signed a minor-league contract with Atlanta on May 4.
Scouting Report
Owns an electric arm, with a fastball that flirts with triple digits. Also throws a quality slider and changeup, which gives him the ability to dominate on the bump. Also displays deception in his delivery and great movement in his pitches. Lacks optimum size for a starting pitcher in Major League Baseball, so there will always be questions about his durability and ability to remain relatively injury-free at the highest level. Must learn how to pitch (and not just throw).
Long Range Potential: Talented, hard-throwing left-hander with good upside.
