The San Diego Padres acquired pitchers Sean Manaea and Aaron Holiday from the Oakland Athletics for infielder Euribiel Angeles and pitcher Adrian Martinez. |
Manaea did not factor into the decision in a win over the Giants on Wednesday, hurling 4.2 shutout innings while allowing four hits and four walks. He struck out six.
Manaea (1-1) took the loss to the Royals on Saturday. He was charged with eight runs (six earned) on nine hits and three walks, striking out four over 3.2 innings.
Is a huge physical specimen (6-5, 245 pounds) who can be described as a power left-hander. Owns a very good fastball and quality slider. Can also intimidate on the mound. Must continue to improve his delivery, since at times he has trouble repeating it. Also, his changeup is still a work in progress. Needs to become a more consistent pitcher, too.
Long Range Potential: Hulking, power left-hander with a little upside.
