Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday that it's "very unlikely" Martinez (back) will join the team on their upcoming April 19-24 road trip, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Martinez (back) is expected to begin swinging a bat again Monday, and he should resume his minor-league assignment later this week, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
Is a talented batter who can hit for both average and power. Can also be a solid defensive outfielder who can play either corner position. Produces runs in bunches. Lacks the consistent batting average of a truly elite run producer in MLB. Is not much of a base-stealer. Can be injury-prone. Is not as good against right-handers.
Long Range Potential: Quality, veteran run-producing outfielder.
