Morton gave up three runs on five hits and a walk over five innings in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates. He struck out seven.
Has an ideal pitchers' frame (6-5, 235 pounds) and the ability to go deep in games when he is in a groove. At his best, he pitches to contact effectively. Is a real battler. Has command issues from time to time that prevent him from being a consistent winner in the bigs. At times he nibbles around the plate. Injuries can also be an issue.
Long Range Potential: Veteran right-hander.
