Fortier, who was set to become a restricted free agent this summer, inked a one-year, two-way contract with Tampa Bay on Wednesday.
Fortier was assigned to the minors Monday by the Lightning, according to Erik Erlendsson of LightningInsider.com.
Is a constant menace to opposing defensemen on the forecheck due the combination of his speed and tenacity. Works extremely hard every shift and never backs down from challenges. Lacks optimum size and will have to prove he can play his strong forechecking style effectively at the highest level. Also, must prove he can produce points to avoid role-player status.
Long Range Potential: Speedy, gritty winger with some upside.
