A strong and powerful presence along the line, he had good size and athleticism. Was a solid anchor. Moved well, foughs hard and had a knack for picking up the run. Was not an energetic tackler. Did not read opposing offenses well and was sometimes slow to react. Was not a great pass defender, despite his good overall skills.
