The Texans re-signed Hewitt to a one-year contract Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Hewitt (illness) is officially inactive ahead of Sunday's game against the Colts.
His all-around athleticism and baseline skills make him a plug-and-play option (inside or outside). He brings the speed and length to cover receivers in the slot and blitz off the edge. Tackles aggressively and likes to push the boundaries of the rule book. He never gives up on a play, will pursue to the finish and deliver a lick. He is gradually expanding his snap count beyond passing downs, while also contributing on special teams.
Long Range Potential: Versatile linebacker.
