Sometimes, he seemed to be everywhere on the field. A sure tackler, he excelled equally in stepping up to play the run and adjusting to switches in the action. Made excellent calls. Played hard. Was not a top-tier athlete. Was not blessed with above-average size, which limited his defensive prowess. At times, he bit on fake plays. Struggled on occasion in zone coverage. Was not a polished blitzer.
