McCullers (forearm) has begun throwing off the slope of the mound in recent days, MLB.com reports.
The Astros placed McCullers (elbow) on the 60-day injured list Thursday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Boasts an excellent fastball, plus a power slider, which combined make him an excellent strikeout artist at all levels. As the son of a former big-league pitcher, he owns very good pedigree for the position. Lacks ideal control, so he needs to throw more strikes in order to thrive in the big leagues (and also to maximize his arsenal). May wind up pitching in relief (like his father) due to an average third pitch (changeup).
Long Range Potential: Quality, hard-throwing right-hander with some upside.
