Winkler signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox on Thursday and was assigned to Triple-A Charlotte.
Scouting Report
Has had success as a starting pitcher in the minor leagues, but is at his very best as a big-league reliever--thanks to his devastating slider. Did not make it as a starter in the big leagues, largely due to his changeup--which lacks feel. Also lacks ideal stamina for MLB.
Long Range Potential: Slider specialist.
