Schafer agreed to a minor-league deal with the Giants on Tuesday, Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports.
Scouting Report
Excellent defensively, he boasts nice range and a great arm. A very good athlete with some power, he also displays the ability to steal plenty of bases and be a table setter. Can add value as a left-handed reliever. Needs to hone his approach at the plate because he sometimes waits too long for the perfect pitch. Has quickly garnered a reputation for being injury-prone. Strikes out too much. As a pitcher, he is extremely raw.
Long Range Potential: Speedy depth outfielder/left-handed reliever.
