Whitlock was placed on the 15-day injured list by the Red Sox on Wednesday with a left oblique strain, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.
Whitlock was removed from Tuesday's game against the Guardians due to left oblique tightness, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
The towering right-hander uses all of his 6’5” frame in his delivery of the ball. Two-seam fastball sinker and a breaking ball slider are the go-to pitches for Whitlock. Neither pitch is overpowering but both have just enough odd movement in the delivery to deceive hitters. Need to keep developing the changeup and adding muscle to really show an impact as a starter.
